Honoring the Dead

Historical Speakers

The Clarke County Confederate Memorial defense and preservation effort is ongoing. Please help us defend the memorial and donate to our cause.
Each year, on June 6, Confederate Memorial Day, Camp members and volunteers place flags at each soldier’s gravestone to commemorate the 2,575 Confederate dead from the war. The event is held at the Stonewall Cemetery, Mt. Hebron, Winchester, VA. The event is hosted by the United Daughter’s of the Confederacy. View Photos
Southern Cross Dedications – the Camp conducts ceremonies at local sites to honor and consecrate fallen Confederate veterans. The ceremony includes a tribute and color guard to remember the soldier or citizen. Do you have a Confederate veteran who you would like to honor with a gravestone or iron cross? Reach out to our camp and we can assist!
Camp members also clean monuments and gravestones, and lay wreaths to remember Confederate soldiers at Christmas.
The Camp hosts a number of award-winning authors and historical experts on the War Between the States, including a number of other talks from guest speakers on a variety of subjects including: heritage defense, monuments, culture, genealogy and current events.
